Make-up, Mock Interviews and Headshots

Each week during our Going Places Network group sessions, we go beyond the mechanics of resume writing and interview tips.  Our focus on themes that will help strengthen not just our career strategies, but our life strategies as well, makes for engaging dialogue and activities among the group and our guests.  So for our Week 10 session – we thought it was a great time to incorporate all of the previous weeks learnings into a fast-paced, interactive and high energy day full of make-up, mock interviews and headshots.

We’ve talked about tapping into your strengths and conveying a strong confident attitude — what better way to practice those principles than with impromptu mock interviews!  Our professional volunteers Chrisine Vystrcil and Rosemary Donnelly  both have extensive corporate backgrounds and hiring expertise.  They agreed to conduct our mock interviews — speed dating style!  Our ladies came through with flying colors with feedback from the interviewers that demonstrated they ‘got it’!

Realizing the need to ‘network beyond the job board’, all of our program participants are creating LinkedIn profiles.  We wanted to ensure that their profiles conveyed the height of professionalism, so we called in the big guns (or brushes as it were)!

For the past two years, Dress for Success Hudson County has been fortunate to have the support of professonial make-up artists Misty Easler www.wix.com/makeupbymisty/makeup

and Pamela Barrios www.pamelabarrios.com

Even with their hectic schedules, these amazing ladies never hesitate to give of their time and talents to help heighten the beauty and confidence of our women.  When we reached out for the Going Places Network event it was no different — they didn’t blink a fabulous well-appointed eyelash — just asked when and where!

With more than 10 years experience working with a renowned NY fashion photographer – Misty Easler was well qualified to once again pick up the camera and do double duty as the photographer for our headshot photoshoot.  The results speak for themselves!  And for the record — its not about the before – its all about the after!

More photos and video from the day are coming – but these ladies look too amazing to wait before posting these fabulous pics!  Make no mistake — these ladies are ‘going places’ and I couldn’t be more proud!  – Linda Street, Program Coordinator – Going Places Network by Walmart
